Highland Heritage Tours & Musical Encounters

Our aim is to provide the ultimate in a cultural holiday experience. Tour and adventure with us as we explore the Highlands and Islands of Scotland. It is our pledge to enable you to appreciate, not just the history, but the richness of heritage and legacy in music and song of this ancient, stunning and special place.

Many visitors to the UK speak mistakenly about Britain and England being one and the same place. Scotland they imagine as perhaps being a region of the UK.

Not only is Scotland a nation in its own right but the Highlands and Islands of Scotland (“A’ Ghàidhealtachd”) is within Scotland virtually a separate entity and has had all the requirements of nationhood in its turbulent existence.

Whilst being a vibrant and progressive place much of the Highlands and Islands of Scotland is still one of the last great areas of wilderness in Europe. An area which has its own language, culture, agricultural management, mechanisms for change and political hierarchy through the clan system.

Inverness

I spent quite a bit of time researching where we wanted to go in Scotland. Most people recommended south Scotland, but I was more interested in the Highlands region. Very glad that we decided to come to Inverness. I tried to find a guide and really had no luck on the internet. I called our hotel and they immediately said call Andrew with Hames! What a great choice!

We booked a three day tour which included (Among others) the highlights of the entire length of Loch Ness, Urquhart Castle, Highland Cattle (Hairy Coos), the Ben Nevis Range, the Isle of Skye, valley of Glencoe, Eilean Donan Castle, Talisker Distillery at Carbost, Dunvegan Castle, home of Clan MacLeod, Kilt Rock, Old Man of Storr, the Island Capital Portree, the commemoration stone to the Gaelic prophet, the Brahan Seer, the Clootie Well, Dunrobin Castle AND Glenmorangie Distllery.

Andrew has an astonishing knowledge of the Highlands, great stories and even willing to share his personal view which we appreciated. You will never be bored and during the car rides you will be enchanted with his folk songs and his stories of the local clans. Whatever the price, it is worth it! I promise you will love ever minute!

As an added bonus he personally took us to a catholic church for mass on Sunday. He didn’t pick just any church, but one with age and a rich history. He gives everything the personal touch!
